HML is one of the oldest agro based companies in India.  The genesis of HML was through Harrisons & Crossfield Limited and Malayalam Plantation (India) Limited. Harrisons & Crosfield (H&C) was established in Liverpool with a capital of  8000 pounds to trade tea and coffee in 1844. It's founding fathers were Daniel and Smith Harrison along with Joseph Crosfield. In 1908 H&C become a Limited company diversifying its activities manifold. In 1921, five companies merged to form Malayalam Plantations Limited(MPL). In 1984, MPL merged with H&C and thus HARRISONS MALAYALAM LIMITED(HML) was born.
In 1989, HML joined the RPG group family. Our company is the single largest grower of  natural rubber in India, the second largest producer & manufacturer of tea in South India and the largest farmer of pineapple in the country. HML spread across 58,000 acres in Kerela and TamilNadu. HML's core business is Tea and Rubber Plantations and other inter crops such as Pineapple , Banana , Pepper , and Cardamom , Aracanut etc. It has the expertise across the value chain: Producing/Buying,Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Blending, Packaging, and Marketing.
HML is listed on the Mumbai, Cochin and National Stock Exchanges in India. HML has come a long way since its inception with improved production of  Tea and Rubber. Our company has huge potential to grow in agri-based business. HML is also exploring new avenues of growth, both in organic an inorganic fields.

Locations

Over the years, HML has evolved a successful business model and expertise to manage plantations and the large number of work force. The sustenance of the company, over the last 100 years, irrespective of the vagaries of the climate and fluctuations in market price is a testimonial.

Built on RPG Values, and HML Cultural Pillars, HML remains a preferred employer in Kerala. many of the performers who left have rejoined over the last 5 years. HML has a robust process of reviewing the rejoining cases, based on performance track record, and multiple internal customer feedback.

Our other business activities are gaining importance in the business portfolio. These divisions are Consumer Marketing Division, Engineering Project Division, Clearing and Shipping Division, and Plant Tissue Culture Division. These divisions are now being run as independent profit centres.

HML also has a project Division, business is developed through tendering process. Our engineering division bagged 50.28 crore contract from KSRTC.

Clearing and Shipping business is generated by meeting in-house requirements and external customers requirements.

Plant Tissue Culture business is generated through client sourcing while domestic business is through elite mother plants, identified by our own teams, from their visits to various locations. Tissue culture exports are done through custom breeding and domestic sales through multiplication and hardening of selected fruit plants.
HML is pioneer in adopting the latest technologies. HML has a well-structured system of reviewing the Performance of each and every element of our business on a monthly basis. We discuss the performance against the budgets and prepare a monthly plan at the beginning of every month for all the businesses and functions. These are minuted, circulated, and reviewed.

 HML has a system to ensure that all its products meet the product specification expectations, as agreed with its buyers. Tea blending and packing centre in Coimbatore is certified under ISO 22000:2005 standards. Company has established an analytical testing laboratory to conform the product quality and safety based on PFA and international standards for tea. Rubber products are verified for chemical and physical specifications through in-house laboratory. Consistent delivery on this parameter, besides others, ensures that we get a better price realisation for our products in the relevant markets.
